Defending the Pope

This, BBC 9/15/2006, is getting ludicrous.

I am the last to defend Ratzinger, who has promoted homophobia as much as anyone alive, but his remarks on Islam were innocuous.

What many of the Muslim critics need is a really clear mirror.

It's been too long since I popped in to tell you what a great blog this is. Keep it up!

At the least the pope's direct quote from Manuel II was unnecessarily inflammatory given that it was beside the point he was making in his speech. Billmon said that using it was neither suitable for peace nor war.

Damn careless for such an important politician.
